Gasoline and transportation are not the only spending items that weigh on the vacation budget. With inflation, which stood at an annual 4.5% in June, the prices of seasonal housing rentals have also increased. And, according to a study by the vacation rental site Likibu.com, this trend is observed throughout the country.
However, there are some disparities based on location. The most marked increases occurred in Brittany, Occitanie and Corsica, where rental prices increased by an average of 9% compared to last year.
The French adapt their holidays
Like Jacques and his family from the south-east of France, many holidaymakers have had to adjust to this price increase.
Inflation has consequences on the vacation budget of most French who plan to go on vacation, according to an Elabe poll for BFMTV made public on July 13. According to this survey, 64% of those surveyed who intend to go on vacation this summer affirm that inflation has an impact on the place, the duration, the planned activities or the type of accommodation chosen for their stay.
Vacationers plan on average a budget of 1,656 euros for their home, or 682 euros per person.
An impact on rental professionals
The reduction in the rental period felt by professionals in the sector for whom a good month is coming.
“Currently, there are weeks or a few days of emptiness,” says Régis Margarot, director of the “Les Clés en Provence” agency, who claims he is not the only one to find himself in this situation.
Despite this price increase, 58% of the French intend to go on vacation this summer, indicates the Elabe survey for BFMTV.
