The chairman of the board of directors of the mutual banking group BPCE, Nicolas Namias, will succeed Philippe Brassac on September 1 as head of the French Banking Federation (FBF), the latter announced on Monday.
The owner of the bank, including the Banques Populaires and the Caisses d’Epargne, will perform this function for one year, in accordance with the statutes of the professional association. Philippe Brassac has chaired the federation since December 2022.
330 member banking companies
French banking lobby, the FBF brings together 330 member banking companies, including 117 foreign banks, according to its website. Its mission is “to promote banking and financial activity in France, Europe and internationally”. Its managing director is Maya Atig.
Nicolas Namias will be assisted by the new Managing Director of Société Générale Slawomir Krupa, Vice President, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Banque Postale Philippe Heim, Treasurer.
And you will find on the executive committee Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, Philippe Brassac and Nicolas Théry, respectively heads of the BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole and Crédit Mutuel groups. All three have already been presidents of the FBF.
