Admiral Vandier becomes number 2 of the Armies
In 2011, he assumed the position of deputy admiral in command of the naval action force, and then assumed command of the air defense frigate Chevalier Paul in 2012.
In August 2017, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the French Air-Sea Rapid Reaction Force. Promoted to Vice Admiral in 2020, he was appointed Chief of Staff “Operations” of the General Staff in 2021, with the rank of Wing Vice-Admiral. He will be elevated to the rank of admiral on September 1, 2023, the date on which he will assume his new duties.
His predecessor, Admiral Vandier, served as CEMM for three years. As of September 1, he will become Major General of the Armed Forces, succeeding Air Force General Eric Autellet. The MGA is the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, a position held by General Thierry Burkhard (former Army Chief of Staff). He is the second oldest soldier in the French army.
