Little by little, the pressure from Atos shareholders is having an effect. According to our information, the president of the IT services group will step down next summer. Bertrand Meunier is the target of several minority shareholders, led by Sycomore, who are demanding his departure as Atos’ stock price has been split fivefold for a year.
According to a source close to the group, “Bertrand Meunier will resign when Atos splits” in two. In mid-June, the separation of the historical IT services activities from the cloud, digital and cybersecurity activities was announced. The latter, renamed “Evidian”, are coveted by various competitors such as Thales, Orange, Airbus, OVH or Inetum.
Threat of extraordinary general meeting
Last week, the OnePoint company even offered to buy it for 4.2 billion euros. An offer that his boss, David Layani, could not even discuss with the president of Atos who did not receive it either…
The group’s split was originally scheduled for late 2023, but “it’s moving faster than expected,” explains a source close to the group. Atos appears to have decided instead that it should be accelerated as shareholder anger mounts. Bertrand Meunier’s march is a way to calm them down and make them wait until next summer.
A handful of them had been planning for a few weeks to call an extraordinary general meeting to remove the president of Atos. He finally pulled the rug out from under them.
