Cabinet submits proposal for salary increase to the central government to unions

The cabinet will present to civil servants unions the proposal for salary increases for 2023 this Monday, with union structures demanding a value higher than inflation and the board pointing to a valuation of 4.8%.

The round of negotiations with the three union structures, the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, and the State Secretary for Public Administration, Inês Ramires, takes place a week before the presentation of the proposal for the state budget for 2023 (OE2023) , which will be held on the 10th in parliament will be delivered.

The unions are demanding a rise above inflation, which the government estimates this year at 7.4%, but the Prime Minister, António Costa, rejected this possibility and indicated in an interview with TVI on September 12 that inflation should be 2% , the medium-term objective set by the European Central Bank.

Continuing in parliament on Thursday, the Prime Minister added that the proposal presented today to the civil service unions will take into account, in addition to the 2% benchmark for inflation, productivity and the differential envisaged in the agreement, of income and competitiveness presented by the government in the social dialogue, resulting in an annual increase of 4.8%.
