Delay of up to 6:50 a.m. on TGVs for hundreds of travelers in the south-west of France: the SNCF announced this Saturday a “very disrupted” traffic due to a power outage.
Within 90 days of travel
On its website, the SNCF details the procedure for obtaining compensation, in case of “a delay of more than 30 minutes at the final destination if your trip included a TGV Inoui or Intercités”. From June 7, users effectively have new rights in case of cancellation or delay of trains.
“Whatever the reason for the delay, you can request compensation and you have 90 days from the date of your trip to formulate it,” the dedicated page continues.
Online or by mail
The request can be made online, with a link that refers to the conversational robot, or chatbot, of the SNCF.
If you click on “delayed train” or “G30” (the name of the form for delays of at least 30 minutes on TGV Inoui and Intercités), the robot will ask you in particular if you had “additional expenses related to this delay”. (accommodation or transport expenses), if you have received “by SMS or email from SNCF, a link to access a compensation card (DIGIPEC)”, if you have benefited from a group and, to finish sending the application, provide your SNCF identifier or create one if necessary.
It is also possible to make a request by post, by downloading the G30 form from the SNCF website, or by free post indicating: the reference of your travel file that appears on your ticket (six letter reference: the date of your trip, your train number, your last name and first name, your email (or postal address) and attaching your ticket.
Two mailing addresses depending on the situation, if the delay did not generate a charge, the G30 form or free mail should be sent to:
G30 SNCF Passenger Service
CS69150
14949 Caen Cedex 9
If expenses have been incurred (hotel, transportation, ticket redemption, etc.), the form or free mail, with photocopies of the receipts of the expenses incurred (keep well the originals of your coins and tickets) must be sent to:
SNCF Voyageurs Customer Relations Department
62973 ARRAS Cedex 9
What compensation?
Depending on the delay, “the amount of your compensation is calculated on the price of the ticket (excluding additional services)” with this scale:
- between 30 min and 2 hours late: 25% of the ticket price
- between 2 and 3 hours late: 50% of the ticket price
- more than 3 hours late: 75% of the ticket price
“The amount of the G30 compensation can be assigned as a bonus, by transfer in euros (in case of a delay of more than 60 minutes) or in points/package reduction according to its status”, specifies the dedicated page.
If you have a “Billet Direct” ticket, which corresponds to “all the tickets for a trip made up of one or more connections, provided that the minimum and maximum connection times defined by SNCF Voyageurs are respected and that the ‘purchase is made in one go’, a table gives the clearing rate for each carrier.
