Energy: here the main measures of the government’s sobriety plan

From administrations to companies, through homes and communities, all actors in society are affected by the energy sobriety plan, whose measures will be announced on Thursday afternoon.

Reducing energy consumption as much as possible is the challenge of the energy sobriety plan that the Government will present this Thursday. BFMTV can confirm a large part of the measures contained in the energy sobriety plan that will be presented on Thursday afternoon, measures unveiled this Wednesday in the parisian. All aspects of economic activity, such as the public and private spheres, are affected. Here are the main points to remember.

The measures were developed in collaboration with some forty experts on energy and climate issues who will also be present at the press conference on Thursday. A dozen working groups have also been organized between the interested ministers and the actors of the large sectors in a logic of consultation and co-construction. Similarly, the electricity transmission network operator (RTE) and the other French energy players also participated in the upstream works.

• Promotion of teleworking in the administration

The temperature of the administrative buildings will be reduced by an additional degree (to 18 degrees and not 19) in case of high energy stress, that is, if the Ecowatt indicator is red according to Matignon. These buildings will stop using hot water in sanitary facilities, with the exception of showers.

Employees in public services will also be encouraged to opt for telecommuting through a 15% increase in the dedicated allowance. Service vehicles must undergo a speed reduction of 20 km/h on motorways (110 instead of 130) and 10 km/h on motorways (100 instead of 100).

• A letter of sixteen actions for the private sector

In the private sector, the sobriety plan provides for a letter of sixteen specific incentive actions to promote the fight against waste, the reduction of lighting or the automation of heating.

An ambassador of energy sobriety will also be appointed in the different companies, while a sobriety plan will be presented to the Economic and Social Committee and to the union delegates.

• A check for 100 euros to promote car sharing

As of January 1, individuals will be able to benefit from a check for 100 euros if they register on a car-sharing platform.

Communities also have their share of measures, particularly for public infrastructure. The temperature of the swimming pools will be lowered by one degree, the temperature of the gyms by two degrees. The stadium lighting is also reduced.

The plan also provides for the extinction of illuminated signs between 01:00 and 06:00, as well as public lighting if they are equipped with a clock box that allows the electricity supply to be cut off.

• An extensive communication campaign

To ensure the widest support for this energy sobriety plan, the government will launch a dense communication campaign. This will be launched next Monday around the eco-gestures. It will provide various reminders such as heating at 19 degrees in the main rooms and 17 degrees in the bedrooms, the water heater limited to 55 degrees, turning off appliances on stand-by or the staggered use of machines outside of consumption peaks.

Finally, an energy forecast will be displayed on television and radio with the Ecowatt color code. The device will become the true barometer of energy weather in France to allow the French to know the state of national consumption every day and every hour.
