Corporate tax: large companies will pay 13,000 million euros by 2021

Large French private groups claim to have paid alone 17% of the total corporate tax collected by the tax administration last year, for the 2021 financial year.

The large French private groups contribute significantly to the tricolor economy. This is one of the conclusions of the study.French Association of Private Companies (Afep) revealed on Wednesday. The organization conducted a survey of 110 member companies (out of 114 in total). Among them are 98 French companies such as AirbusJCDecaux, Michelin, Nestle France or even Dassault.

However, at a time when the option of taxing “super profits” is on the table in budget discussions, we learn that these French companies have paid €13 billion in corporate income tax (IS) to the tax administration for 2021. A sum representing 17% of the total corporation tax deducted in France that year. And this, even though most of its activity is located abroad. The French market only generates 23% of the global turnover of the companies affiliated with Afep.

€77 billion in mandatory levies

In addition to IS, these private groups have also paid labor taxes. According to the survey, they paid €45 billion of these taxes, including €37.8 billion in employer charges and €7.2 billion in apprenticeship taxes, vocational training, payroll taxes, transportation payments, etc.

In total, Afep affiliates have contributed €77 billion in taxes and other taxes, or 18% of all mandatory fees paid by companies in France.

These large companies also employ 2.1 million people, or 12% of private sector employees. Finally, they pay them the equivalent of €100 billion in gross salaries, which represents 16% of the French payroll.
