Wholesale markets: fine of 80,000 euros to the electricity division of Totalenergies

The group is condemned for not having complied on seven occasions with its obligation to publish information on the unavailability of electricity production capacity between the beginning of 2019 and the end of 2020.

A breach that costs 80,000 euros to Totalnergies Electricité Gaz France (TEEGF). The company was ordered to pay this fine by the Dispute Resolution and Sanctions Committee of the CRE, the Energy Regulatory Commission.

The group is sanctioned “for not having complied on seven occasions with its obligation to publish privileged information on the unavailability of electricity production capacity between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020. The sanction refers only to the delays in publication”. no use of privileged information on the markets has been found”.

“Undermining the proper functioning of the market”

“Breach of the obligation to timely publish “privileged information” constitutes by itself, whatever its circumstances and consequences, an attack on the proper functioning of the market,” explains the CRE, which “applauds this decision that confirms that the proper operation of the wholesale market demands the greatest rigor on the part of its agents”.

The investigation was opened in March 2021.
