The Mota-Engil group more than doubled its first-half year-on-year profits to 30 million euros, a seven-year record, the construction company announced.
“The group achieved a net result of EUR 30 million (+154%), achieving the best net result of the past seven years in a first half year,” said Mota-Engil in a statement.
Between January and June, the company’s turnover increased by 89% to 2,558 million euros, “very close to the total value for the year 2021” (2,592 million euros).
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in turn amounted to EUR 352 million, representing a year-on-year growth of 70%.
During the reporting period, the company invested EUR 187 million, of which 68% was earmarked for medium and long-term contracts.
Until June, the group maintained its order book “at the record level of 12,600 million euros reached in December”.
In addition, there will be around 2,000 million euros in new contracts signed after June.
In the first half of the year, the engineering and construction (E&C) sector stood out, more than doubling (104%).
By region, the group in the African division grew by 50% to EUR 676 million, while in Latin America it tripled its turnover (208%) to EUR 1,326 million.
In Europe, sales increased by 16% to EUR 291 million, with the Portuguese market accounting for 70% of activity.
With regard to the Environment activities, the company recorded a turnover increase of 16% to 254 million euros.
The Mota-Engil group also announced a revision of the objectives of its strategic plan, expecting a turnover of 6,000 million euros, an EBITDA of 955 million euros and a profit of 180 million euros by 2026.
