Enedis ensures that hot water tanks will not be cut off. “There will be no power outages or hot water,” the Enedis spokesman, Laurent Méric, recalled this morning on the set of BFM-TV. To smooth out the consumption peak between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m., the electric hot water tanks of the 4.3 million customers who benefit from the off-peak rates at that time will not be “reconnected”.
“In these meridian hours the hot water tank is being reset, and what we are going to do is simply deactivate that reset, the water will remain hot, it will heat up all night, it will have the same comfort, the same uses; we can take a shower, use hot water as we want. Simply, the water will not heat up between noon and two”, explained Laurent Méric.
“Independent of Linky”
In addition, “it is completely independent of Linky”, continued the spokesman for Enedis. “Thanks to the Linky meter, we will be able to keep the off-peak hours between noon and two for all other uses. The heating of the water will not start, however, for the heating uses, your oven, your ceramic hob, television, etc. , you will continue to have the price of the off-peak hours between noon and two, for the people who have it”, he said.
