Elisabeth Borne assured this Sunday that fuel supply tensions at service stations “will improve throughout the week”, as “deliveries” arrive, in particular from the French “strategic stocks”.
“The situation will improve throughout the week,” the prime minister told reporters on the sidelines of a trip to Algeria. “We have released strategic stocks” of fuels “to supply service stations” and “these deliveries come gradually,” he continued.
About 30% of service stations in difficulty
For ten days a strike has been carried out at refineries and fuel depots, which has caused interruptions in supply. According to the Ministry for Ecological Transition, 29.7% of service stations have difficulties with some product at least on Sunday at 3:00 p.m., compared to 21% on Saturday.
The tensions crystallize in Hauts-de-France, where 54.8% of stations are affected, and Ile-de-France, with 44.9%. Given this, the government decided to release part of its reserves, and authorized the circulation of tank trucks this weekend.
