The government and three public administration union structures will return this Friday to negotiate next year’s salary update and other measures to be included in the 2024 state budget proposal (OE2024).
António Costa’s executive is negotiating an increase in the minimum wage from 60 euros to 820 euros gross per month, 10 euros more than provided for in the agreement signed a year ago, in social consultation, between the government, employers’ federations and UGT , according to the Ondernemersblad. During the two previous meetings, the Secretary of State for Public Administration, Inês Ramires, maintained the proposal for a salary update provided for in the agreement signed a year ago between the government and the UGT structures, proposing increases equivalent to an increase in the salary level (approximately 52 euros).
In percentage terms, this increase translates into an adjustment of 6.8% for the public administration remuneration base, which currently amounts to 769.20 euros, to 2% for higher salaries.
The unions were dissatisfied and demanded higher increases than those in the agreement, with the CGTP Common Front demanding 15% with a guarantee of 150 euros per employee, the Federation of Trade Unions for Public Administration (Fesap) 6% with a minimum of 80 euros and the Technical Staff Union (STE) an increase of at least 5% for all employees.

Jornal de Negócios states that the government is negotiating a proposal to increase the national minimum wage to 820 euros per month in 2024.
In addition to annual salary increases, the government proposal provides for measures that will be included in OE2024, which will be presented to the General Assembly of the Republic next Tuesday, such as ending the cuts in daily allowances and transport subsidies that have been in force since the financial crisis. crisis (December 2010), a measure that will cost 21 million euros next year.
