TotalEnergies wants to negotiate with the unions but after the liberation of the refineries

Guest of Focus Premiere on BFMTV, TotalEnergies refining director Jean-Marc Durand recalled that the company was willing to negotiate but first wanted to put an end to a situation that “poisoned the lives of the French”.

It is, therefore, a tie that is looming in the coming days to find a way out of the critical supply situation at gas stations. On the one hand, the management of TotalEnergies, on the other the unions, who demand salary increases and have launched a blockade of the group’s refineries to make themselves heard. The director of refining within the company, Jean-Marc Durand, was clear on the morning set of BFMTV: negotiations will open only to the extent that the lockdowns are lifted.

A little earlier in the morning, the general secretary CGT Chimie Emmanuel Lépine had confirmed at the RMC microphone that the strike would continue this Monday: “The CGT-TotalEnergies coordination will meet to respond to Total’s press release this weekend. ” At the moment we do not have a negotiation date, we do not have a proposal. What we want is for the negotiation to begin and then the proposals before lifting the strike.”

Rejecting the term “blackmail” to describe his condition of opening negotiations, Jean-Marc Durand uses it rather to designate what the French live. “We have a commitment to deliver as many service stations as possible as quickly as possible, insisted the refining director. This morning at 4:30 am, the trucks were on the road. Behind, we want to attack the negotiations as quickly as possible possible once the lockdowns will have been lifted, we said that the results of the company are very good and we said that we were going to reward and involve our employees fully appropriately in these results.”

The director of Refining recalled that the company had already agreed to the union’s request to bring forward the mandatory annual negotiations: “Traditionally, negotiations are held in January with us to incorporate the elements of inflation from the previous year. At the request of the unions, we had already advanced these negotiations in mid-November, now the CGT is asking to advance them even further, we agree with that, we are talking to all the unions, but we do not want to negotiate with a situation that poisons the lives of the French”.
