Salaries: Elisabeth Borne threatens professional sectors with reducing load exemptions

The Prime Minister calls on professional sectors to comply by June 1 and threatens to reduce their contribution exemptions.

The government is willing to crack down on professional sectors that do not comply.

Elisabeth Borne gave professional sectors with sub-minimum wages until June 1 to make “significant progress”, otherwise threatening to pass a “law”.

Many professional sectors are slow to increase their pay scales and, in particular, their minimum wages, which are sometimes below the minimum wage. If companies in these sectors do not pay their employees below the minimum wage, this delay causes a drop in wages.

If some unions demanded that the government eliminate exemptions from low-wage charges for companies belonging to the less virtuous branches, the government opted for an intermediate measure. Therefore, the exemptions would not be eliminated, but would be calculated on one more minimum wage level (that of the branch minimums), so that they would be mechanically reduced with respect to their current level.
