Storm Ciarán left many homes without power. According to Enedis, 980,000 homes were still without electricity this Thursday at noon, of which 575,000 in Brittany and 315,000 in Normandy. During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, numerous trees fell on electrical cables and high voltage towers were uprooted by strong winds.

At dawn, 1.2 million people no longer had electricity in the west of the country. Since this morning, “a quarter of the homes have been replenished” in Brittany, but the Ciarán storm continues its path towards the north of France “with new customers affected in Normandy and in the Nord-Pas de Calais”, says Enedis, which claims to “strengthen its interventions” in the affected areas “as meteorological conditions improve.”
Enedis also reminds that “you should never touch fallen cables,” nor “touch an object in contact with a power line.”
