Road carriers are “on a knife edge”, some close to running out of fuel, Jean-Marc Rivera, general secretary of the professional organization Otre, told AFP on Thursday.
The transport companies have their own tanks, but “they still have difficulties getting the fuel to arrive,” said Jean-Marc Rivera.
Another problem for companies that do not have their own depots: “We are facing unlikely situations”, with access problems to the pumps theoretically reserved for heavy vehicles at service stations and very long waiting times that disrupt schedules .
“It costs us”
“Some pumps are rationed or prohibited for heavy vehicles”, pointed out the general secretary of Otre, denouncing in particular “refusals to sell” to E.Leclerc.
The road transport organizations have daily meetings with the Ministry of Transport and met on Thursday with the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, “to discuss the economic consequences, because there are already for us,” Jean-Marc Rivera also indicated. .
The rise in the price of diesel and extended delivery times, “it costs us”, he sighed. “We are very concerned about the end of October, with the end of general aid at the pump,” he noted. The OTRE asks for more specific aid for “large professional rollers”.
