SNCF railway workers and RATP employees are called to strike next Tuesday to demand wage increases and protest against requisitions in the energy sector, while other sectors could mobilize that day.
Sud-Rail, the third representative union in the SNCF, also called for mobilization to demand “a salary increase”, to oppose the requisition of strikers from TotalEnergies and Esso-ExxonMobil by the government, and to encourage “the expansion of mobilization on wages and purchasing power”.
“Anger Grows”
On July 6, the SNCF management approved a recent increase of 3.7% for small wages and 2.2% for parents on the issue of one day of grève which has disturbed the departments on vacations. Summer.
The CGT transport federation, in turn, has committed itself by calling on its members to stop the work. “Anger is brewing, even in our professions,” warned the union, which represents truck drivers, among others.
Specific claims
Finally, the mobilization should also concern the RATP since the CGT called the employees to strike, lambasting “the deafness of the employers and the government” in the face of the “catastrophic” social situation. Here too, the union asks for wage increases. According to the management of the Régie, salaries have already increased by an average of 5.2% during the year 2022.
On the other hand, the transport federation FO, which had planned a week of action and stoppages from October 17 to 23 due to an improvement in working and salary conditions, postponed this action for a later date.
The federation “does not want to drown in the coming social movement,” it said in a statement. “Transport and logistics employees have demands specific to their professions that cannot be drowned in a large interprofessional movement because there is a social emergency for our branches and sectors,” the press release specifies.
