Bercy wants to reduce the area occupied by the administration by a quarter

This project is part of the review of public spending launched this week by Matignon and which should help generate 12 billion euros of savings in 2025.

To save money, Bercy intends to reduce the area occupied by the administration by 25%, announced the Delegate Minister of Public Accounts, Thomas Cazenave, in Sunday’s Tribune, without specifying a calendar. “I want to carry out an ambitious reform of the state real estate sector,” the minister announced in a joint interview with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire.

National Education and the armies monopolize half of the State’s real estate assets

The newspaper recalls that the real estate assets of the State and public organizations include 192,000 buildings and 30,000 pieces of land that cover 94.5 million square meters, half of which are destined for National Education and the armies. This project is part of the review of public spending launched this week by Matignon and which should help generate 12 billion euros of savings in 2025.

“There is no shortage of topics: housing, clearer decentralization, public broadcasting, the maquis of social assistance and its means of payment…” he continues. The results of the reviews should be known in early March.
