France Travail: 7% illegal offers according to the operator, 61% according to the CGT

The union denounces open-ended contracts that turn out to be temporary jobs lasting a week, or even a day, or even personal services platforms that promise 35 hours for very part-time positions.

Around 7% of job offers published on the France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi) website do not respect the legal framework, the operator said on Friday, questioning a CGT study that states that this rate reaches 61, 1%. Every year, the national committee of the unemployed and precarious of the CGT (CNTPEP-CGT) carries out a study “on the illegality of job offers” published on pole-emploi.fr.

Focused on the host cities of the Olympic Games (Paris, Nice, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, Saint-Denis, Lille, Saint-Etienne) and on the most affected sectors (construction, transport, personal services), the sixteenth edition has analyzed 1,915 offers extracted from the site, the union indicates in a press release. “The conclusion is clear: of 1,915 job offers studied, 1,170 are illegal according to the Labor Code, or 61.1%,” writes the CGT.

France Travail evokes “confusions between quality and legality”

For its part, France Travail questions the reliability of this study and points out “a series of methodological deficiencies.” The public operator notes in particular “confusions between quality and legality”, for example, “when denouncing the publication of the same offer on several channels”. The operator emphasizes that “it carries out a study every year on the legality of the published offers, with a methodology audited by an independent company and whose results are shared with France Travail partners.”

France Travail nevertheless invites job seekers to communicate offers “that they consider doubtful” to their advisor or online and assures that it will “closely observe” all cases identified by the CGT study. The union demands “the immediate cessation of the control of people deprived of employment and the retroactive re-registration of all France Travail users terminated due to insufficient job search or rejection of offers.”
