The transportation sector is moving forward. Guest on France Info, Eric Hémar, president of the Union of Transport and Logistics Companies of France, calls for “freedom of movement to be respected” in reference to the farmers’ blockades.
Although the farmers who left Agen to reach Paris have decided to return, numerous road blockades and leaking reservoirs continue to be recorded in the country. In the Paris region, eight motorways remain blocked: A1, A4, A5, A6, A10, A13, A15 and A16, according to the Ile-de-France traffic monitoring tool Sytadin.
In its latest situation report, Vinci Autoroutes recalls that several motorway axes in its network are affected by outages due to agricultural demonstrations. “In the affected areas, the secondary network is particularly saturated and traffic is complicated due to delays,” adds the motorway company.
Impact on other sectors
A situation that is beginning to get complicated for transport and logistics companies.
The president of the Union of Transport Companies also points out another problem while several companies have decided to temporarily stop their activity: “the restart of logistics chains.” “It takes several days and is complex to implement,” he breathes.
Especially because, according to him, this phenomenon will have repercussions in other sectors. “Industrial companies are affected,” explains Eric Hémar. “We have a challenge at the European level of logistics competitiveness. Interrupting production cycles requires a long time to implement,” he says, giving the example of the current tensions in the Red Sea that are slowing down global maritime transport.
