Totalenergies Feyzin: CGT strikers demand a “mediator of the Republic”

Strikers at one of the two Totalenergies refineries still blocked are demanding “real negotiations”. The tanker replies that they are finished.

The CGT strikers at the Totalenergies refinery in Feyzin (Rhône) demanded this Monday the intervention of a “mediator of the Republic” for a “real negotiation” with the management, which however replied that “it is over” after the agreement of the October 14th.

“Only the management of TotalEnergies has the power to unblock the situation, but they no longer want to argue with the strikers. Faced with the inaction of the management (…), the strikers are asking the government to appoint a mediator from the Republic, to open a real negotiation and initiate a start of social dialogue”, Pedro Afonso, delegate of the CGT, told the press. The only Totalenergies refinery still affected by the strike is the one in Gonfreville (Seine-Maritime).

Hiring

“The workers are still determined to obtain their legitimate demands. The hiring that the strikers demand” is only for the purpose of compensating “for the missing positions, in accordance with our current agreements that set a minimum number of workers,” added the union leader. , highlighting 90% of the strikers in the shipping department of the refinery (about 100 people).

Consulted by AFP, the group’s management indicated that “it had not been informed of this request” for mediation.

It also “remembers” “that on October 14 a majority agreement on wages was signed with the unions (CFDT and CFE-CGC)” and “it will be applied.” “Therefore, the negotiations have ended, which is why Totalenergies asks for the end of the strike,” he stressed.
