450 euros for three months without absence: the new RATP bonus for bus drivers

This bonus for bus drivers aims to combat the shortage of personnel that has affected the RATP for months.

This is one of the main projects that await the future head of the group, Jean Castex. Faced with a serious shortage of bus drivers for several months, the RATP announced in mid-October to its drivers the establishment of a “production” bonus of 450 euros for those who will hold their position for three consecutive months, reports the parisian.

Specifically, bus drivers who do not register any absence (except ordinary holidays) for a month will receive 100 euros. An additional €150 will be paid in the second month, then €200 after three months. So 450 euros in total. However, the counter will be reset at the slightest absence.

26% more secure supply

This system was implemented retroactively to October 1 and should last until the end of the year. Objective: to combat the shortage of drivers that affects Parisian transport while the president of Ile-de-France Mobilités, Valérie Pécresse, explained at the end of September that 26% of the supply of buses in Paris and in the suburbs was not safer since the beginning of the school year.

For the year as a whole, the RATP offer is “17% lower than expected”, admitted the financial director of the Régie, Jean-Yves Leclercq, explaining this phenomenon by “the difficulties of hiring and the increase in absenteeism” . The former head of the group Catherine Guillouard had also underlined “the very significant increase in the level of absenteeism due to illness”, the number of days off work having doubled compared to before the Covid-19 crisis.

With the Parisian, Hani Labidi, FO delegate in the bus department of the RATP denounces a “primette that jumps if you have an accident at work or are attacked”. More than for a bonus, “we are fighting for our salaries and so that our working conditions are not sacrificed for the opening to competition,” he said while planning a new social movement within the group on November 10.

In addition, trade unionists question the legality of this assistance bonus, which would be deprived of employees who decide to go on strike.
