Prologium has signed a memorandum of understanding with Schneider Electric to prepare its future “gigafactory”, a spokesperson for the Taiwanese battery manufacturer announced on Tuesday, which should begin construction of its factory in Dunkirk (North) at the end of the year or early 2025 .
Prologium will also create a research and development center in Saclay (Essonne), in addition to its future factory in Dunkirk, he added. The group hopes to obtain construction permission for the Dunkirk gigafactory by the end of the year, CEO and founder Vincent Yang said in a video message.
The Taiwanese group Prologium chose France last year for its first overseas solid-state electric battery gigafactory thanks to local political and financial support and the creation of a true specialized center in northern France.
The ProLogium site will be the fourth gigafactory located in northern France. It should begin production in late 2026 or early 2027, depending on the progress of the consultation process, and ultimately create 3,000 direct and 9,000 indirect jobs.
