The Tax and Customs Administration (AT) says there is no “evidence of any elimination or manipulation of the IBANs” in the Register of Finance Portal, but mentions that there may be situations that make it impossible to transfer support to families.
“According to the information provided by the AT [Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira]there is no evidence of any removal or tampering with the IBANs [número da conta bancária] included in the register of the Finance Portal,” said an official source of the Ministry of Finance, responding to Lusa about complaints coming to the Portal da Queixa from people saying that the IBAN has been changed after confirming the data to receive the extraordinary support.
The same source must have been: “reported that the IBAN registration functionality in the Finance Portal registry works normally and without any restrictions”.
However, the AT warns that there may be situations where the taxpayer has not registered an IBAN in the Register of the Finance Portal, has made this registration with an IBAN that he no longer uses (possibly due to the closure of the bank account in question) or has another IBAN specified specifically for IRS reimbursement purposes.
“In all these situations and in order to ensure the payment of the extraordinary aid in question as quickly as possible, taxpayers should consult and update the IBAN information directly on the Finance Portal”refers to the same official source.
In a press release released this Wednesday, the Portal da Queixa says it receives “several complaints from people who say they have not received extraordinary support due to problems with the IBAN”, adding that “the reason for the registered complaints is the same : After confirming the data, they saw that the IBAN had been changed without being aware of it”.
In its reply to Lusa, the Ministry of Finance states that the IBAN registered in the Portal das Finanças “is individual and directly related to the taxpayer in question, is a relevant element in the scope of the financial relationship with the AT and is used for various purposes. tax”, such as self-employed tax refunds and other tax refunds.
The IBAN stated in the IRS statement is provided for the purpose of receiving any IRS compensation.
Last week, AT began disbursing aid of 125 euros to all persons resident in Portugal, who declared a gross annual income of up to 37,800 in the IRS’s Model 3 Income Tax Return for 2021 and 50 euros per person considered as dependents. .” stated in the declaration, regardless of the income obtained by the ‘parental’ guardians or the dependents themselves”.
In cases where the person is a retiree or is a beneficiary of Social Security benefits, the support is paid by Social Security.
Yet the same response from the Ministry of Finance, and in cases where taxpayers do not have a valid IBAN in the Register of the Finance Portal “will order the transfer of support to the alternative IBAN that appears in the household IRS statement regarding until 2021”.
If the taxpayer so wishes, he can always request clarification or the solution of specific situations by making use of the service channels of AT, namely ebalcao or the Telefone Service Centrum (217 206 707).
