With 67 new aircraft in June, Airbus deliveries regain momentum

Since January, Airbus has delivered 323 aircraft to its customers, including an overwhelming majority (261 units) of A320neo and A321neo. In June, 67 new aircraft were delivered.

Airbus delivered 67 new aircraft to customers in June, regaining its pace at the start of the year after a weak May.

Since January, Airbus has delivered 323 aircraft to its customers, including an overwhelming majority (261 units) of A320neo and A321neo, the flagship single-aisle aircraft in its range, according to a chart available on the company’s website on Monday. Its deliveries reached 53 aircraft in May, 61 in April and 63 in March.

The group warned at the end of June that it would deliver fewer aircraft than planned in 2024, due to persistent difficulties in its supply chain.

8,585 aircraft will be delivered in ten years

While it had been expecting to deliver 800 aircraft this year, the volume of 2018 before the pandemic torpedoed the aviation sector, it now plans to deliver only 770. In 2023, it managed to deliver 735 aircraft. The goal of producing 75 aircraft per month has been delayed by a year, to 2027.

The industrial giant also received 73 orders in June, including 36 A321neos for an unnamed customer. This brings the total orders to 310 since the beginning of the year, including two large orders from Saudia and American Airlines.

Deliveries are a reliable indicator of profitability in aviation because airlines foot the bulk of the bill when they take possession of the planes.

At the current rate, the European industrial giant’s order book represents more than ten years of production, with 8,585 aircraft to be delivered, of which 7,688 are single-aisle aircraft, a range that includes the A320neo and A321neo, but also the smaller A220.
