Is Russia asking North Korea to cover weapons shortages? According to the New York Times, Moscow is supplied with artillery ammunition from Pyongyang. This information was revealed to the newspaper by US intelligence services.
The NYT does not give specific information about the type of weapons coming from North Korea, except that these deliveries would consist mainly of artillery ammunition and projectiles.
According to Washington, this new supply chain would confirm the impact of international sanctions and Russia’s growing inability to sustain its offensive in Ukraine.
The milestone of a thousand tanks lost by the Russians was reached this summer and “their best missiles were consumed,” Vincent Tourret, a researcher at the Foundation for Strategic Research, told L’Express on the occasion of the Eurosatory weapons exhibition held near Paris. .
Missile launchers repatriated from Syria
With the arrival of winter, Russia seems to want to replenish its stock of weapons. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops are now even using “outdated” weapons.
But above all Russia would have recovered the S-300PMUs loaned to Syria. This information comes from satellite images from the Israeli company ImageSat International. These systems would have been transferred by ship to a base in the Black Sea.
The S-300PMU system is a surface-to-air defense missile launcher installed on an off-road truck chassis for easy mobility. Equipped with a tracking and guidance radar, it would be capable of intercepting tactical missiles at a range of 300 km and an altitude of 30,000 meters. Its rate of fire is one missile every 3 to 5 seconds.
