320 thousand transfers of extraordinary support fail due to invalid IBAN

The Tax and Customs Administration was unable to process 320,000 transfers of extraordinary aid due to an invalid IBAN number.

In a statement, the Treasury Department said that until this Monday, the Tax and Customs Administration (AT) has ordered transfers to about 2.5 million people related to extraordinary family income support, including 1.3 million dependent children and young people.

“Of the total transfers ordered by the AT, about 320,000 were not processed because there is an invalid IBAN on the Finance Portal”notes the government, noting that thus 87% of the transfers ordered were successful.

The Ministry of Finance warns of the importance of citizens to update the IBAN on the portal of Finance, so that the AT will continue to make successive attempts over the next six months to transfer this extraordinary support to the household income.

“The invalidity of the IBAN of the Portal das Finanças registration can be due to several factors, namely when taxpayers have provided an IBAN of an account they do not hold, made a mistake when typing a number or have indicated in the IBAN of an account closed in the meantime”says the Ministry of Supervision.

The ministry also illustrates that: “the IBAN appearing in the register may, at the taxpayer’s option, not coincide with the IBAN indicated in the IRS return, so taxpayers who have not yet done so should verify and/or update their IBAN in the register of the Financial Portal “.

In cases where taxpayers declare only the IBAN for IRS purposes, it is considered for paying this extraordinary support.
