Following a post on social media, Zara has withdrawn a T-shirt from sale in certain countries. In a video posted on TikTok, a mother from the United Kingdom expressed outrage at a piece of children’s clothing she found in a British store of the ready-to-wear brand, considering it an inappropriately suggestive allusion. Enough to prompt the Spanish giant to react, which apologized and declared that it was withdrawing the product from sale, reports The New York Post.
This is a white children’s t-shirt, intended for girls ages 6-14. On the front of the garment are written “The Perfect Snack” and “The Strawberry – A Little Burst Of Sweet Joy.” On the back, there is a large strawberry cut in half, accompanied by the words “Take a bite/A burst of sweet delight, making it the perfect summer snack” (https://www.bfmtv.com/ “A burst of sweet happiness, making it the perfect summer snack”).

In her TikTok post, the British mother said it was not suitable clothing for children, pointing to the use of the word “snack” as a suggestive allusion. Speaking to the New York Post, Zara defended itself by saying the use of the offensive term on the T-shirt had “no intention other than the traditional meaning of the word,” as “evidenced by the image of a strawberry on the garment.”
Although the shirt is no longer available on the brand’s British website, it is still being sold in other countries for the time being. The garment is still available for sale at the moment, both online and in-store, according to the stock query presented on e-commerce sites, in other neighbouring countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy or the Netherlands.
