Who will take part in the demonstration on September 7 called by youth organisations, the Union of Students and the Union of Secondary Schools? CGT leader Sophie Binet announced on Wednesday that her union would not formally call this demonstration against Emmanuel Macron’s “coup de force”, although she hoped that this mobilisation would be “a success”.
The mobilisation on 7 September “is called for by political organisations, it is their responsibility and it will allow employees who wish to demonstrate to denounce this unacceptable coup by Emmanuel Macron,” he told AFP.
Organizing the social response
“The CGT’s responsibility is to organise a social response,” he added, calling for a strike and demonstrations on 1 October to demand in particular “the repeal of the labour reform, wage and pension increases.”
For the moment, several political parties have announced that they will take to the streets on that day. Among them, LFI and EELV have confirmed their participation. For the Socialist Party, nothing has yet been decided. Officials of the PS told Reuters that for the moment “nothing has been decided” regarding its participation.
