Prices rose by 1.8% year-on-year in August in France, INSEE said on Friday, confirming that inflation had returned below the symbolic threshold of 2% for the first time in three years and even slightly lowering its initial estimate (1.9%).
After reaching 2.3% year-on-year in July, the consumer price index’s growth slowed in August due to a “very clear slowdown in energy prices,” according to a statement from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies. However, in one month, inflation stood at 0.5%, which represents an acceleration compared to July (+0.2%).
