More than half of TPE leaders (57%) declare themselves “satisfied” with the appointment of Michel Barnier as Prime Minister, according to a study by Ifop/Fiducial published this Tuesday.
“Quite satisfied” with this appointment, the heads of the VSE are however “concerned about the national context, fearing that political instability will affect their economic activity”, indicates the economic barometer of the VSE carried out by Ifop/Fiducial for the third quarter of 2024.
“Adopting a ‘pro-business’ stance, they expect from the new government an improvement in the purchasing power of households as well as greater support for companies,” states the survey, carried out among 1,006 VSE executives between September 16 and October 7. . 2024.
77% of bosses are pessimistic about business
However, half of the businessmen surveyed (51%) are worried about a possible vote of no confidence and 77% of them declare themselves “pessimistic about the general business climate in France.” This represents “more than 10 points in the space of a year,” says the study.
The purchasing power of households occupies first place among the priorities: 35% of small business owners consider that this issue should be treated as a priority by the Government, followed by the state of the French debt (25%) and “the security of people and property” (24%).
If “the economic situation of VPE remains stable”, according to the barometer, 36% of small business owners affirm that they “face financial difficulties.” This is one point less than the previous quarter.
