As last year, Trenitalia will offer a winter connection with Chambéry and a new stop in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne as an extension of its railway line between Paris and Lyon.
The Italian railway operator’s red arrows will serve the two cities (which provide access to the ski resorts) from December 15 until next March.
One round trip per day is planned on Saturdays and Sundays to the two stations in Savoy.
The stop in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne is new. “The city of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, destined to become an international station and the point of convergence of all modes of transport in Savoy with the completion of the Lyon-Turin tunnel, also constitutes an essential step in favor of mobility travelers. and the economic and cultural influence of the valley,” explains Trenitalia.
Enough to slightly expand the transalpine company’s offer (5 round trips per day to Lyon), notably reduced since the great landslide that occurred in the Maurienne valley in August 2023, which prevented its TGV from reaching Milan , in Italy.
After important works, this connection could be resumed in the spring of 2025, indicates the Prefecture of Savoy. “We are preparing to reopen Paris-Milan in the first quarter of 2025,” the company specifies.
Trenitalia also announced its intention to connect Marseille from Paris next year.
