Low-income households that are heated with fuel oil and cannot benefit from the shield established for other energy sources will receive aid of between 100 and 200 euros from Monday, according to a decree published this Sunday in the Official Gazette, a day before . expected.
This device is part of the provision of 230 million euros voted by Parliament this summer and can be used to pay any type of energy bill, if the affected households have recently filled the deposit.
From 100 to 200 euros
This fuel check, valid for one year, amounts to 200 euros for households with annual income of less than 10,800 euros per unit of consumption (that is, when the income of an adult in the household, after deducting in particular the charge represented by minors, does not exceed 10,800 euros per year, according to INSEE calculations).
It will be 100 euros for those who earn between 10,800 and 20,000 euros per year per consumption unit, according to the decree published in the Official Gazette.
1.4 million households affected
According to the Government, 1.4 million households could benefit from this check out of the 2.8 million that heat with fuel oil. It can be requested from Monday on the site checkenergie.fr, where a simulator will show who is eligible.
At the beginning of October, the Ministry of Economy recalled that “this fuel oil aid will be added to the usual energy check, sent in spring to some 6 million households, and to the exceptional energy check at the end of the year that will be sent to 40% of households (12 million households)”, to cope with the 15% increase in gas and electricity prices forecast for 2023.
