The CGT relaunches the mobilization. The trade union central calls again for a strike for salaries and pensions this Thursday, November 10, grafting on a day of mobilization planned for a long time in the RATP.
Transport, health, education… The call for mobilization launched by the organization headed by Philippe Martinez aims to be interprofessional and national. Unlike the previous day of strike that had been little followed on October 27, the confederal secretary of the CGT, Céline Verzeletti, expects this time “150 to 200 demonstration points”, a mobilization equivalent to that of October 18, in the middle of the refinery strike.
However, the CGT seems isolated. Because if FO, Solidaires and FSU had joined the call to demonstrate on the 18th, the Montreuil plant is this time the only employee union calling to participate on this day, FSU and Solidaires calling only locally to join the processions .
“Very strongly disturbed” traffic on the RATP
Only the strike call in the RATP seems at this point to testify to a union (CGT, FO, Unsa, La Base and Solidaires) with the objective of “zero metro, zero RER” this Thursday. What to expect “very disturbed” traffic on the metro and lines A and B of the RER, the Paris transport authority has already warned.
Service will also be interrupted on the bus and tram network. A first estimate of the transport plan with the frequency of the RER and the number of metro lines closed or operating only in peak hours should be published this Tuesday at the end of the afternoon.
At SNCF, on the other hand, mobilization seems more limited. No other union wanted to follow the movement of the CGT, after an already mixed mobilization on October 18.
However, more local transport disruptions are expected, such as in Rouen or Montpellier, where the CGT TaM, the UCGT CGT TaM and FO are calling a strike.
What mobilization at school?
In other sectors, the service could also be interrupted at school, particularly in extracurricular activities, in several cities. On its website, the city of Le Havre announces, for example, that “the extracurricular reception (morning and afternoon) and/or canteens of certain schools in Le Havre will not be provided” on November 10.
The mobilization could also affect the operation of certain health establishments while the Federation of Health and Social Action of the CGT has also presented a notice of strike in “the socio-sanitary, medical-social establishments of the public hospital, the French Blood Establishment and the Espic (private health establishment of collective interest)”. The same in the state civil service where the Federal Union of State Unions of the CGT has also presented a notice of strike for Thursday.
