This first connection of a new reactor in France since 1999 was initially scheduled for Friday morning, before being postponed several times, and EDF reported an extension of the preliminary maintenance operation that would end on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. .
The operation must be carried out at low load, around 20% of the reactor power, to check that “everything is fine” before carrying out additional tests to reach 100% power in the summer of 2025, the group explained on Friday. .
After the fuel loading carried out in May and the first nuclear reaction in the reactor at the beginning of September, coupling to the grid is the third stage of the entry into operation of Flamanville 3, a new generation pressurized water reactor which should supply approximately two million homes.
