November 10 Strike: Rideshare Requests Up 25%

Carpooling platform Blablacar Daily sees a 25% increase in home-work carpooling requests compared to last week.

With major disruptions planned in public transport in the Paris region and in other cities following the call for a CGT strike for this Thursday, November 10, the French are looking for alternative solutions.

Carpooling is encouraged in Île-de-France

The Blablacar Daily carpooling platform thus registered a 25% increase in home-work carpooling requests compared to last week.

The Île-de-France region has also implemented specific measures to encourage the practice of carpooling, reminds Blablacar Daily, with free trips for all passengers and, by the driver, an additional compensation of 50% of the price per passenger (within the maximum limit of 6 euros per passenger).

The demand for taxis and VTC should also jump this Thursday. Therefore, Heetch expects a 30% increase in trips compared to a typical day in the Paris region.

Strong demand also for this weekend

On the eve of the weekend of November 11, Blablacar also notes “a strong increase in the interest of drivers in sharing their car during this long weekend”, with +25% compared to last year. Combining its bus network and carpooling, the operator forecasts a total of 300,000 travellers.
