Given the success of its 1 euro train offer, Occitanie is generalizing the system. The regional president, Carole Delga, announced this Tuesday the establishment of the train ticket at 1 euro every first weekend of each month. This measure refers to the TER regional network, called liO in Occitania, and will be implemented from December.
To respond to the fuel shortage last October, the Occitanie Region offered 1 euro tickets for two consecutive weekends. The offer was overwhelming: during the weekend of October 22 and 23, 131,000 travelers passed through the regional railway lines, that is, an attendance five times higher than usual.

While online reservations are recommended, a limited number of tickets can be purchased at the stations. “It will be better to book!” launched Carole Delga during a press conference, advocating a “supply shock” to amplify “the desire to take the train” in a region that has already seen the number of train users increase 27% compared to the period before the health crisis.
These train tickets for euros per trip (ie 2 euros round trip) will be available every first weekend of the month, except for the months of July and August. However, in case of connection, a ticket must be purchased for each train. More specifically: a trip with a connection will cost 2 euros (and therefore 4 euros for a round trip).
In addition, this 1 euro train offer will also be activated from 2023 during persistent pollution peaks, for all TER trains entering or leaving the areas affected by these peaks.
