China called on Sunday, April 13, United States on Sunday, April 13 to “completely cancel” reciprocal customs tasks, after the US decision on Friday of exempting high -tech products.
“We urge the United States to (…) take a great step to correct their mistakes, completely cancel the bad practice of reciprocal customs tasks and return to the right to mutual respect,” a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in a statement.
In the midst of a commercial war with China, which panic in financial markets, the United States has increased its position on Friday by exempting smartphones, computers and other electronic products of recent massive customs surcharges imposed by President Donald Trump.
The China Ministry of Commerce described this “small step” decision on Sunday, adding that it was in the “evaluating the impact” process.
Reciprocal attacks
According to a note from the American Customs Service on Friday night, these exemptions are applied in particular to imported electronic products in the United States from China, directed since Wednesday by monumental customs duties of 145%. The American technological giant Apple, for example, makes its iPhone in China in particular.
Beijing had retaliation on Friday by making their customs duties brought 125% on Friday applied to all American products, a measure in force on Saturday.
