To get the work of dreams, or simply a necessary work, some candidates admit that they have already lied to their CV. According to a survey* conducted by the PPPLY online learning platform, 55% of the French have already invented professional experience, exaggerated their responsibilities in their previous work or even hid an unemployment period.
“You can quickly detect a false experience”
Among the most frequent lies, 10% of those questioned by Prety admits that they have already mentioned an unlikely diploma in their CV, or even, having invented a professional experience.
They are also 7% to recognize to invent software control or a professional tool, or even add certification or training not followed. Less frequent, 6% of candidates admit even see a false diploma invented.
“These falsifications may seem harmless, but they pose a real problem in case of verification by the employer. False experience can be detected during an interview or a reference taking,” warns the PREPY platform.
Hide unemployment periods
For others, these are exaggerations rather. Therefore, 9% of those questioned say they have already transformed a CDD into a CDI into their CV, after having lied about real missions, the real level of responsibility in their previous work or the number of people administered.
In addition, 8% of those questioned recognize that they have already exaggerated their achievements and their results in their previous position.
Finally, some candidates constitute their CV so as not to reveal periods of inactivity. Therefore, 8% of those questioned say they were inaccurate at the dates of professional experience, and 7% admit that they have hidden periods of unemployment or a long inactivity.
*Survey conducted with 1,500 participants of 16 years or more, representatives of the French population. The respondents extended throughout the French territory.
