The president of the Confederation of Small and Medium Business (CPME) Amir Reza-Tofighi supported the idea of eliminating the fiscal allocation of 10% of retirement pensions on Saturday, punishing “a lack of courage for electoral reasons.”
“I listen to all those who continue to say that budgetary responsibility is needed, but that, as soon as we ask to have shared efforts, they say that it is out of discussion to touch retirees. I think it is a lack of courage for electoral reasons,” he said in France Inter.
Amir Reza-Tofighti recalled a report from the Court of Auditors that “puts a point forward, is that France is an anomaly in the European Union because we are the only country (in which) retirees have a better standard of living than the asset.”
Disputed idea
“We are this anomaly, for a very simple reason, is that every time we ask for efforts, we do not ask them retired, for electoral reasons,” he added.
The abolition of 10% of the reduction of taxes in retirees is a track cited by the Government as part of the 40 billion euros in savings found in 2026.
The idea was relaunched by Public Accounts Minister Amélie de Montchalin, but Justice Minister Genin questions her.
Also questioned about Emmanuel Macron’s request to suspend investments in the United States and the call to the patriotism of the Minister of Economy Eric Lombard, Amir Reza-Tofighti said that “when we can change investments in the United States, it must be done because it is an act of economic patriotism that allows more lever for France.”
