The postponement of the Decree on Energy Programming of several years (PPE), announced by Prime Minister François Bayrou on Monday, is an “extremely worrying sign for the energy future” of France that endangers his competitiveness and local jobs, he worried on Tuesday for France.
“Leaving the sector of renewable energies without clear perspectives would be equivalent to a permanent weakening of our economic and hypothetic fabric, the industrial reconquest that our country asks for their wishes,” he added by calling the government “to publish the decree in the EPP without delay, to relaunch the essential tenders for the development of French industrial electrical energies.”
The dependence of fossil fuels costs “64 billion euros” per year
François Bayrou announced, during the debate on energy sovereignty in the National Assembly, the appointment of a working group for audiences and complementary studies, as well as a postponement of the “end of the summer” of the publication of the decree on the Energy Route map of France for the next 10 years. France renewable denounces an “inaction strategy”, while the digitalization of the French economy, data centers and artificial intelligence require large amounts of electricity to function, and industrial reconquest “require abundant, competitive and decarbon electricity.”
