Vined or Shein? Who sells the greatest amount of clothes in France?

The second -hand online platform stands out as the first clothing distributor in France, despite the competition of Shein, Temu and Amazon.

Who sells the greatest amount of clothes in France? According to the French Fashion Institute barometer (IFM), Vind would be far ahead of Shein in terms of clothing volumes sold in France, reports the newspaper Les Echos.

Other estimates, however, place the Chinese Shein in the first place, as a teacher “where the French spent more in 2024”. But in the IFM barometer, however, the favorite application of young consumers only arrives in the fifth place in the classification in the volume of clothing vendors.

According to the French fashion institute, the Shein trio, Temu and Amazon concentrates 29% of online clothing sales in the first quarter of 2025, but represents only 7% of the total clothing consumption. This activity sector is very atomized with a large number of brands, which explains that none of them combines a preponderant market share.

Stores resist online platforms

Physical clothing that also sell brands also resistance to online platforms, according to this barometer. Kiabi is third in the classification in the volume of clothing sales, behind Amazon.

From the fifth to the tenth place, then we find H&M, Intersport, Auchan, Carrefour and E.leclercler. The Chinese Site of Temu only reaches position 23.

The remaining price is a preponderant criterion for textile buyers in France with an average price of 14 euros per shirt bought, 32 euros per shirt, 38 the dress and 33 euros for women (48 euros for men).

The French fashion institute also specifies that the second hand weighs 11% of the clothing volumes sold, with cheaper sold pieces used than new.

The profitable second -hand online platform

Vinted, the first volume clothing seller in France, obtained profits in 2024, for the second consecutive year.

Its net profit in 2024 is shown at 77 million, four times more than in 2023, according to a company press release.

The billing of the second -hand online platform also has a turnover of 36% in 2024, reaching 813 million euros.
