Baby clothes: Petit Bateau enters the rental market

To avoid waste and encourage reuse, Petit Bateau offers parents the option of renting baby clothes.

The smaller they are, the faster babies grow. So much so that the budget needed to revamp your wardrobe can quickly disappear for young parents. A very short duration of use of these products which raises even more questions the fashion industry It is one of the most polluting. According to Ademe, the sector is responsible for 1.2 billion tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year worldwide.

To meet this double challenge, Petit Bateau has decided to launch a baby clothing rental service. To get the products, consumers simply have to go to a dedicated platform of the ready-to-wear brand. They can then select bodysuits, pajamas, bottoms, and even coats for their baby at a reduced cost compared to their retail price.

5 euros per month for leggings

Count 5 euros a month for cotton leggings, 9 euros for pants and 13 euros for jeans. Customers can also opt for “prefabricated” boxes, by theme (birth, night, nursery, etc.). Composed of seven garments, they are offered between 52 and 89 euros per month.

An additional management fee of 15 euros will be charged for any order less than 30 euros.

“Tenants” can keep the products for as long as they want before returning them. However, to be returned, these clothing must be clean and in good condition. If they are damaged, they will be collected and recycled by Petit Bateau. On the other hand, an excessively degraded condition of the clothing can lead to customers being billed.

The launch of this new platform is part of the brand’s sustainability strategy, which has been in place since 2017. Thanks to its second-hand offer, it offers its customers in particular the option of recovering Petit Bateau pieces that are no longer use. These are then integrated into the “second hand” sales circuit or recycled to design new products.
