Business creations have been reaching their highest level for a year

The number of business creations in France experienced a “strong rebound” in April, according to Insee, after four successive falls, and reached its highest level since May 2024, the INSE announced on Friday.

Therefore, the number of creations is 95,032, an increase of 4.6% after -1.7% in March, in corrected data of seasonal variations and effects of business days. This rebound refers to both microenterprise records (+4.9% after -1.3%) and classical business creations (+4.0% after -2.4%).

In April there were 33,181 creations of conventional companies and 61,851 micro -entry creations, even in corrected data.

In gross data, the total number of companies created in the last twelve months, that is, from May 2024 to April 2025, increased by 1.4% compared to the period of May 2023-ABRIL 2024.

Results contrasted according to the sectors

The increases for a month refer to almost all sectors, in corrected data. The creations “bounce very strongly” in transport and storage (+20.5% after -10.7%). They “recover very clearly” also in commerce, including the repair of cars and motorcycles (+6.4% after -2.6%) and industry (+11.9% after -12.1%).

On the other hand, they fall back into domestic services (-1.5% after +1.4%), the only sector where creations are falling during the month.

In gross data, the number of companies created during the three months from February to 1.1% of April compared to the same period of the previous year.

During this period, the creations of conventional individual companies decrease by 17.2%, microenterprise records decrease by 0.2%, while corporate creations increased by 3.2%.

During these three months, the sector that contributes further down is that of construction with 3,200 creations less compared to the same period of the previous year.

In contrast, business creations in the transport and storage sector increase more, with 4,700 more creations.

In gross data, the total number of companies created in the last twelve months (May 2024 to April 2025) increased by 1.4% in the annual change. The creation of companies increased by 3.5%, the microenterprise records by 2.9%, but the creations of conventional individual companies fell by 12.6%.
