Even if it is a file that really begins to crowd it and has repeatedly threatened to disconnect, it persists. Donald Trump wants to try to snatch the fire. The appointment is awarded this morning to Vladimir Putin at 10 am, at Washington. They will be 5 pm to Moscow (and 4 pm in Paris).

The White House tenant said it last week: “Nothing will happen” whenever I don’t speak to Putin. But something will happen at the end of this call? Can you boast significant advance?
It will certainly depend on the tone that Donald Trump will use with his interlocutor. During the merger in March with the Kremlin, he talked about his Russian counterpart in brilliant terms. Putin is a “very intelligent and pragmatic man,” he said. More recently, the US President expressed his frustration or even his “anger” against a man who, “manipulates.”
It will be interesting to see what your attitude with Putin will be. Will you press more pressure as required more and more republican elected officials? Trump has shown the threat of new sanctions without taking measures so far.
Difference in treatment
Trump is so conciliatory with Putin. Zelensky found himself alone in Türkiye last week. He met Rece Tayyip Erdogan well with whom relationships are good, but Putin, who, however, had proposed the meeting, was not there. Nor Trump.
The Ukrainian president thought that Putin’s hypocrisy and cynicism would explode, which would pay the consequences, but it was nothing. Not only, the Kremlin head escapes additional sanctions, but obtained an appeal with his American counterpart that did not work.
If Zelensky had refused to go to Türkiye, it would be difficult to believe that Trump’s reaction had been identical. It should also be taken into account that Trump calls Putin first, after Zelensky, and then NATO members. It gives us an idea of their priorities.
“Crucial” week
Meanwhile, Europeans are trying to weigh as much as possible. On the eve of this call, French, British, German and Italian leaders spoke by telephone with the US president.
“They discussed the situation in Ukraine and the catastrophic cost of war for both parties.”
This week will be the “crucial” judge Ursula von der Leyen. Until then, negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Türkiye led to an exchange of prisoners.
Donald Trump “is determined to obtain results,” says Steve Witkoff. The special envoy that warns: “If it is not successful, then no one can.”
