Totalnergies inaugurated Thursday in Spain, near Seville, its largest solar field in Europe, the Guillena power plant, with an installed capacity of 263 megawatts (MW) of renewable electricity, which can feed more than 150,000 homes.
“This field of solar energy plants will produce 515 Gigavatios-Hora (GWh) per year of renewable electricity, the equivalent of more than 150,000 Spanish households,” said the energy company in a press release.
“They will avoid the issue of 245,000 tons of CO2 per year,” he adds.

Most of the electricity produced will be sold through long -term electricity purchase contracts (or “energy purchase agreements”) and the rest will be sold in the wholesale market.
The “energy purchase agreements” (PPA) are contracts for several years for which customers buy their electricity of renewable origin at a predefined and stable price.
This project “contributes to the ambition of Spain to achieve renewable energies of 80% in its mixture by 2030,” said Olivier Jouny, director of renewable energy in Totalgies.
The group is the fourth supplier of electricity, gas and associated services in Spain, with more than 2 million individual and professional clients.
