Airplanes and delays are often synonymous. But in Europe, companies also slow down for different factors, such as strikes, computer failures, weather events …
Flightradar remembers that last year, the delay of the aerial passengers of France represented more than 7 million cumulative minutes, the equivalent of 14 years lost. 20% of the exits were delayed more than 15 minutes and 1% of the flights were canceled.
And in 2025? The specialist analyzed the yield of 20 airlines with the largest number of departures in Europe during the first five months of the year. The results are not good since all these companies have two -digit delay rates (number of flights at least 15 minutes late for the destination divided by the total number of flights).
It is Tap Portugal who obtained the first place most envied in the most numerous delays with 37%of its late flights followed by Air France (22.6%) and Swiss International (22.4%).
Then comes Finnair (21%), Ryanair (20.7%) and Easyjet (20.6%).
Therefore, they are not low -cost companies the least reliable and this, despite a large volume of flights: 371,000 in Rynair, for example, it is almost four times more than Air France (102,000).
Air France secondly with 22% of its late flights
“The slightest grain of sand can modify the flight plan of a device and lead to delays or even cancellations,” says Ignan El Bouanani, Flighthal’s legal manager over low -cost companies.
In terms of flight cancellations, it is Finnair that rises in the first step of the podium with a rate of 3.3% in 43,250 flights, followed by KLM (2% of 135,000 flights) and British Airways (1.6% on 112,000 flights). Air France is ninth with 0.88% of the cancellations of 102,000 flights.
Again, low -cost giants show good results with cancellations of 0.65% in Vueling, 0.45% in Easyjet and only 0.29% in Ryanair.
Remember that the European consumer can be compensated thanks to regulations 261/2004 Adopted more than 20 years ago by the European Union “for any traveler of a European Union country heist Cancel for non -extrathyral conditions, or delayed in more than three hours. “
The latter provides compensation of 250 euros for flights of less than 1,500 kilometers, 400 euros for flights between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometers and 600 euros for flights of more than 3,500 kilometers.
But this scale can soon evolve against consumer disadvantage through the review of compensation thresholds.
