Serbia and Russia have extended the contract that unites them for the supply of Belgrade Gas by Moscow and would expire on May 31, the director of the public company for the public distribution of Srbijagas. Belgrade, whose great majority of gas comes from Russia, pays only $ 275 (241.6 euros) for 1,000 M3 cubes as part of its current contract with Moscow, which is much lower than the market price in Europe.
An annex valid until September 30 was added to this contract on Friday, which will allow Serbia to fill his actions “before the winter season,” Dusan Bajatovic told RTS Public Channel.
Currently, gas courses are negotiated at around 37.4 euros of the MWH according to the Dutch TTF index: the European GAZ reference for contracts from June to September, which is between 374 and 418 euros for 1,000 m3 depending on the thermal coefficients that differ depending on the type of gas.
150 million additional cubic meters stored
Thanks to the extension of the contract, “we can store 150 million additional cubic meters” and “the Serbian gas storage unit of Banatski Dvor will have 385 million cubic meters” before winter “, which means that we are well prepared,” he added.
The next discussions with Russia are planned between September 18 and 21 in St. Petersburg, on the occasion of the Economic Forum, Dusan Bajatovic also announced. If Serbia says that he is trying to diversify his supply sources, in particular by signing an agreement with Azerbaijan, Belgrade depends mainly on Moscow for its gas, which has arrived since 2021 through the Turkstream gas pipe and its extension of the Balkan current, which Bulgaria crosses.
