The hailstorm that affected Paris and its particular region, on May 3, will cost insurers 334 million euros, due in particular to the damage to cars, said Tuesday, May 27, France, confirming information from Parisino.
Hailstones caused 196 million euros in cars, with 61,630 claims declared on May 21. “196 million euros are half of the annual hail cost in car insurance on average in the last decade,” said Parisien Paul Esmein, general director of the insurers of France.
Damage to île-de-france
“Such quantity is explained by the location of the storm, in urban areas with many outdoor parked vehicles,” he added. Then, the claims in homes come that will cost 116.9 million euros, then damage to professional goods (14 million euros) and agricultural losses (7 million euros in un operated harvests).
